Humans of the Resistance

American consumers in 2023 spent nearly $19 trillion on goods. We have immense power as consumers. Since Trump’s inauguration, we’ve been reminding companies of this power through boycotts which are beginning to show their effectiveness. 

Earlier this month, a mother and her three children were released from ICE’s custody after they were detained following entry into their home without a judicial warrant.  The family was seized by ICE during a raid on a dairy farm in a small Northwest New York village conducted on March 27th. After their brutish seizure, the family was moved to Karnes immigration processing center in Texas by March 30th.

April 29th marks Trump’s 100th day in office as well as the lowest approval rating of any president in the past 80 years. Trump’s popularity has been on a steady decline since he took office. Despite his many failings during his first 100 days, Trump can now proudly claim one victory – he holds the two lowest approval ratings of any president in their first 100 days. 

When covering the resistance against Trump 2.0, journalists keep claiming: the resistance is here, but protests aren’t as big as they were in 2017. Resistance though is more strategic, more widespread, and more effective.

Feb 18 - A top federal prosecutor in Washington resigned Tuesday [February 18] after refusing an order from Justice Department leaders to direct a bank to freeze accounts holding $20 billion in climate change money allocated by former President Joe Biden’s climate spending law,” according to breaking news reported by Politico.

Feb 9 - Over the course of 12 days, grassroots organizers—without any budget, centralized structure, or official backing—pulled off over 80 protests in all 50 states on 1 day.

Feb 5 - Three federal employee unions are suing the Trump administration, alleging that Elon Musk’s “department of government efficiency” (DOGE) has been granted unprecedented and potentially illegal access to sensitive government records.

Jan 29 - A federal judge said Thursday that President Donald Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship was “blatantly unconstitutional” and issued a temporary restraining order to block it.

Jan 29 - Doctors and other medical professionals repeatedly interrupted Robert F. Kennedy, Jr’s Senate Finance Committee hearing. To applause, protestors in their scrubs confronted Mr. Kennedy with shouts of “You lie!” and “Vaccines save lives!”
